For Rice Kheer
  • Milk - 2 liters full fat
  • Rice - 150 grams (1/2 Cup)
  • Sugar - 200 grams (according to taste)
  • Cashew almond shavings -4-5 teaspoon
  • Raisins - 2 teaspoon
  • Chironji - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Saffron - 15-20 strands soaked in milk
  • Yellow Food Color (if not using saffron strands)
  • Rose water - 2-3 tsp


For making Rice Kheer
  1. Take milk in a vessel and keep it on the gas to boil. We have to keep stirring the milk continuously till the milk comes to a boil.

  3. Wash the rice thoroughly an hour before using it for making Kheer.

  5. After boiling the milk, add soaked rice to it and keep stirring it continuously till it comes to a boil. After that you stir it every once in a while so that the kheer does not stick to the bottom. The taste of kheer can be spoiled if it sticks to the bottom.

  7. At the time of boiling the kheer, we will also add milk containing chironji and saffron to it and keep stirring it.

  9. Our kheer is slowly starting to boil and is thickening. The kheer is cooked well. Now we will put sugar in it and let the sugar dissolve well.

  11. After this, add 2-3 spoons of rose water to the kheer, and cook it for some more time.

  13. There you have it. Your creamy and aromatic rice kheer is ready. You can eat it cold or hot as you like. Cold kheer also tastes delicious.
