It can also be consumed in falahar or fast. Not only elders, but even kids also love it very much.

INGREDIENTS

For Dry Fruit Barfi - Panchmeva Paag:
  • Almond 1 cup
  • Cashew nuts 1 cup
  • Lotus seeds 1 cup
  • Desiccated coconut 1 cup
  • Edible gum 1/2 cup
  • Muskmelon Seeds 1/2 cup
  • Sugar 1(1/4) cup
  • Ghee 200 gms.
  • 1 Tbsp Raisins
  • Cardamom Powder 1 Tsp.

INSTRUCTIONS:

How to make Dry Fruit Barfi - Panchmeva Paag:
  1. Heat the pan and roast the muskmelon seeds until color changes. Roast them for 2 minutes on the low flame.

  3. Roast the Desiccated coconut until soothing fragrance appears. Roast them for 2 minutes on the low flame.

  5. Fry the edible gum in preheated ghee, Roast it in the low flamed Ghee by continuously stirring it till it expanded in shape.

  7. Shallow fry the almonds in the ghee till it light browned.(2 min.)

  9. Shallow fry the Cashew in the ghee till it light browned.(2 min.)

  11. Shallow fry the lotus seeds in the ghee till it light browned.(2 min.)

  13. Now its time to prepare sugar syrup.

  15. put the pan on gas, add sugar, water and stir continuously till sugar dissolves completely.

  17. Add cardamom powder and stir, now check consistency of sugar syrup 1 thread needed.

  19. Break the dry fruits semi crushed in the mortar.

  21. Add the mixture of all the dry fruits in sugar syrup.Cook and continuously stir the mixture until it is thick it will take 4 to 5 minutes.

  23. Apply the ghee on the bottom of the plate, and pour all the mixture in it.

  25. The mixture is set after the 40 minutes, mark the cutting area on the mixture.

NOTES AND TIPS:

  1. You can also add some saffron and rose water in your dry fruit paag for more flavors.
  2. Only use Desi ghee to fry edible gum.
  3. Store in a air tight container in a refrigerator, so that you can enjoy it for at least 1 month.
  4. If the syrup is dense and leaves a1 thread like trail, it is ready to be used.
  5. It is usually offered to lord krishna on the occasion of Janmashtami.
