It is used widely as an offering across the country during Janmashtami, a festival celebrating the birth of Lord Krishna. When you hear panjiri, we know that our sweet tooth gets activated!

It is counted as one of the best sweet prasad for lord Krishna.

INGREDIENTS

For Dhaniya Panjiri - Janmashtami Prasad:
  • 2 bowl coriander Powder
  • Ghee 50 gms
  • 1 cup Desiccated Coconut
  • 1 cup sugar Powder
  • 1/2 cup Almond, Cashew Shavings
  • 1/2 cup Lotus Flower (makhana)
  • 1/2 cup Gum (Deep fried)
  • 1 Spoon Cardamom
  • For garnishing => Almond, Cashew, Raisins

INSTRUCTIONS:

How to make Dhaniya Panjiri - Janmashtami Prasad:
  1. Put finely chopped coriander Powder and fry with1tbsp Ghee in a frying pan, till a nice aroma is emitted.

  3. Put Desiccated Coconut in the Pan and mix with coriander Powder.

  5. Stir Roast the lotus seeds and nuts together.

  7. Deep fry Gum in ghee.

  9. Crush Makhana and Gum, Chop cashew nuts and almonds,

  11. Cook the coriander powder for 8 to 10 minutes over a low flame.

  13. Add all the other ingredients(lotus seeds, nuts and Deep Fried Gum) and mix well.

  15. Prasad is ready to offer lord Krishna.

NOTES AND TIPS:

  1. Put the flame low while frying.
  2. Only use desi ghee.
  3. Store in a air tight container so that you can enjoy it for at least 1 month.
